I am a Licensed Professional Counselor within the state of Arkansas and I am a Nationally Certified Counselor as certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors.
Having grown up in rural Arkansas, I have developed a love for the outdoors. In fact, when I am not at the office, I can often be found exploring a back road, hiking, or mountain biking through the forest on any of the amazing trail systems throughout our state. I find peace and healing in the serenity and calm of the woods and I often seek to bring a part of this experience into the office.
Though the peaceful environment or serene sounds of calm woods and trickling creeks can go a long way toward healing some wounds, I also have 18 years of experience working in the helping profession with children, adolescents, families and adults. The last 9 years serving as a licensed professional counselor. My training and experience have paved the way for me to to accurately and effectively evaluate and treat most issues arising within each of these groups and across multiple settings. I have a Master of Science degree and a Specialist in Education degree in Professional Counseling. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral, and Experiential Therapy approaches when working with individuals and families.
Additionally, I have advanced training and certification through the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). While much of my work is currently within the office or Telehealth setting, I also have significant experience working with detained and high risk youth in multiple settings including juvenile detention centers and intensive outpatient programs.
I believe that healing is possible and I invite you to begin that journey with Journey Creek Counseling.
